About Dr. Jeff Dories
Welcome to English 202: Research Writing. My name is Jeff Dories and I will be your instructor. I received my PhD in English Literature here at IUP and my areas of concentration include: British Romanticism, World Culture, Literary Theory, Body image and Eating Disorders in Literature, and Ecocriticism. I received my MA from Buffalo State College and my BA from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.
I am originally from Buffalo, NY and moved to Indiana in 2004. I married a native Indianian (?) in December 2006, Jessica, who works in the Office of International Affairs on campus. In my spare time, I like to run, play basketball, watch sports, travel, watch foreign films, write, and I am a political junkie.
In fall of 2010, my wife and I welcomed into the world our first child, Clare Marie Dories, and currently are enjoying having our hands full with her and learning something new everyday:
I look forward to working with you this semester!

Dear Jeff,
A fabulous blog. I am an instructor at the University of South Carolina (Sumter). One of the four satellite USC campus locations. This fall 2008 I am teaching English 101 and will be using Muller’s New World Reader. Like you, I want to incorporate the web experience in the classroom. In fact, I am most curious how your students responded to building blogs. My concern is that I might spend more time on the technical side rather than providing students with writing skill sets.
Kudos to you for your success! Will you kindly forward to me any of your specific writing assignments and reading assignments. Were you able to integrate basic grammar lessons into your New World syllabus?
Look forward to hearing from you. I really would like with your permission to use some of the handouts/sidebars identified on your blog.
Thank you.
Best regards,
James Borton
